Sustainable and Environmental Policy

Sjölander da Cruz Architects believe that in order to achieve sustainable and environmental targets we need to adopt a holistic approach in terms of design, materials, energy and transport.

We believe that the orientation of buildings is very important to take advantage of the benefits of solar gain. We aim to minimize heat loss and promote natural ventilation to reduce CO2 emissions.

The practice tries to select locally produced goods and materials as far as possible from sustainable renewable resources. It also aims to specify natural products and finishes with low embodies energy.

As a practice, we are very interested in alternative energy sources and construction materials, and would like the opportunity to explore these in partnership with an enthusiastic Client.

It is important to look at the lifelong cost for alternative energy measures, which we would be very happy to advise the client about and develop a long-term strategy.

Sjölander da Cruz Architects' sustainable design philosophy is primarily to design flexible buildings of workmanship and quality to last a lifetime, which is the most sustainable approach for the built environment.
