The site for this new house is located on a segment of field and enjoys uninterrupted panoramic views of qunitessentially English Countryside in particular manificent views towards the Cotswolds. There is an existing bungalow on the site previously owned by a farm with a strong rural character.

The building has been conceived as a courtyard form orientated towards proposed native trees on the roadside . This takes advantage of views in all directions and frames visual axis to connect the house to its site. Openings are positioned to create vistas through the spaces drawing in and connecting the surrounding landscape into the house. The central circulation space with the staircase creates a flow through the ground floor, creating a transitional space through which the living and utility spaces are interconnected. The proposed design uses a mixture of traditional building materials with robust and simple detailing drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape and vernacular building forms with an exciting and contemporary internal arrangement to provide a house suitable for modern living.
