Client: Red Development, Cheltenham

The new development is laid out around a series of spaces, which we have planned to be a safe and sustainable home zone. A home zone is an environment designed to meet the needs of pedestrians and cyclists who take precedence over the motorist. We have designed an environment where it is pleasant to stop and talk to your neighbours and for children to play out in the street.

We have taken our inspiration from the surrounding houses in regard to scale, but focused on the terraced housing to the north for a more regional emphasis to the design. Brick colour, render, and the use of twinned canopies, create a locally based aesthetic language, which has been used to provide the development with a solid, and distinct vernacular identity.
