Situated in the Dockland area of Stockholm, Proppen 4 is a 7-storey 1930s functionalist factory, which is of historic and architectural importance, being one of the first truly modernist industrial buildings to be completed in Sweden.

Our brief was to convert the building into a series of offices for a selection of electronics and design firms. Working with the rational existing structure our scheme explored layering of transparent elements to promote the penetration of natural light to the centre of the building and also maintain the inherent volume.

We have handled the interiors as insertions within the raw space of the existing building, and accentuated the contrast between new and old to produce a vibrant and creative environment.
